There isn’t a single week of the year, that something isn’t blooming in South Florida. Large tropical trees are usually the most dramatic bloomers.

And at this time of year, the  Poinciana is probably the most prominent tree. Mostly, it blooms a deep fiey, scarlet-red. But there are also yellow varieties which I occasionally see around town.

The contrast of greens to the reds are pleasant.

And this is one of my favorite Poincianas in the area. It’s spectacular!
